When planning a trip to Tennessee, it’s good to know the lay of the land, so you don’t miss anything, of course. Tennessee is a beautiful state with a rich history dating back over two hundred years from when it joined first joined the Union. Other than Missouri, it borders more states than any other—eight to be exact! The Tennessee River, one of the main topographical features, divides the state into three sections: East, Middle, and West. In the eastern part are Tennessee’s share of the great Appalachian Mountains—home to the Blue Ridge Parkway, one of the most scenic drives in America—and Clingman’s Dome, the highest elevation in the state at over 6,600 feet. Its lowest point is farthest west, at the Mississippi River which separates it from its neighbor, Mississippi. The Middle section is strewn with green valleys separated by woodland ridges and also contains a large plateau region. It’s in this portion of the state where you’ll find Nashville, the state’s capital, which also happens to be the country music capital of the world. But Nashville has more than just country music—other than Austin, TX, Nashville averages more live music venues than any other US city. The western portion of the state is known as the Great Valley, where the ridges are more subdued and valleys become broader. To the far west of this portion of the state you’ll find Memphis, Tennessee’s most populous city, which is always bustling with energy. For sports, there’s Memphis Grizzlies basketball, Tennessee Titans football, Nashville Predators hockey, and plenty of minor league baseball. And don’t forget about Dollywood or the former home of Elvis Presley, the one-and-only, Graceland.

Christmas Shopping

The day after Thanksgiving is traditionally seen as the biggest shopping day of the year in the United States. Still stuffed from the previous nights eating of turkey and the family recipe for cranberry sauce, many of us, will manage to get up at the crack of dawn and head to the mall or nearest outlet for the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season. As this years Black Friday draws closer, and once again the mad rush for finding that perfect gift or newest Hot item becomes an all-consuming stressor in your life, simplify you life and get all the information you need to decide on that perfect gift right here. For the men in your life think about getting an HDTV or LCD Plasma TV for the Holidays. For the Ladies diamonds and jewelry is always a great traditional gift, but if you’re looking for something more new age that’s still within your budget, consider getting her some of the new fashion from Kate O’Connor’s clothing line made entirely with organic bamboo! For the more adventurous, lingerie is always a nice touch, luckily for you places like Buyorganic.com even sells sexy bamboo underwear. Some may be new to the bamboo craze that is spreading across the fashion industry. Bamboo has become a great fad recently because not only is it environmentally friendly but its as lightweight as cotton and as smooth as silk. The best part about bamboo clothing however is that because its sustainable and plentiful it is therefore very affordable.

Still for most of us, this years Christmas shopping season will once again be dominated by this years version of ‘tickle me Elmo’ for our little brothers and sisters, but for all of us out of diapers, the new HOT tech-gadgets are here and better than ever! Whether you’re thirteen or thirty, Hot gifts like Nintendo’s new wii, the Playstation 3 or the Xbox 360 are sure to please. For your insatiable teenager or the business conscience professional Apple’s new Iphone will be a tough item to beat this year, but if anything could only Apple’s other new release, the Ipod touch would be able. Both are Wifi enabled making them indispensable for your busy lifestyle, the difference being that the Ipod touch is thinner and cheaper than the Iphone but does not allow for calling. Additionally, Motorola’s Razr2 is also looking Hot for the Holiday season, cheaper than Apple and following one of the most iconic mobiles ever made means this mobile is ready for the mad rush of shoppers on Black Friday.
